Sometimes the old must give way to make room for forward-looking concepts. This is exactly what has happened at an impressive pace: where the old market was still being demolished in fall 2024, there is now a state-of-the-art EDEKA supermarket that breaks new ground in terms of design and efficiency.

A superlative new building

The figures speak for themselves: within just one year, the entire building was not only rebuilt, but also fully equipped. The use of space is particularly clever—the market was built above the parking areas on the ground floor.

The result? A generous 3,660 m² of retail space, complemented by a 330 m² restaurant concept called "Esszimmer" ( dining room ) . Here, the shopping experience and quality of stay merge into a modern whole.

The Shop-Zwo concept: design meets brand identity

A project of this magnitude can only succeed through strong partnerships. Together with Mr. Gradl, the Store Planning & Design department at EDEKA Nordbayern-Sachsen-Thüringen, and the experts at Kesseböhmer shopfitting, the "Shop-Zwo Concept" was brought to life.

Efficient planning: The start of installation on October 13, 2025 marked the final sprint of a project that stood out thanks to its perfect logistics.
