Now available in OrganiQ - the clever alternative to wood

Cutlery and cooking utensils are some of the things that are used every day and need to be readily accessible. Drawer organisers are key to an easy cooking experience. Kesseböhmer has developed FineLine LiniQ, a flexible range which continues their high standard of design for interior fittings. The elements of this modular range are now available in sustainable OrganiQ material too.

The dual protection finish of the FineLine LiniQ minimalist fitting system makes the wooden products durable and robust. Intermediate sanding lends them an especially sleek feel. The upmarket appearance goes hand in hand with maximum flexibility: a drawer can easily be adapted to the user’s own requirements with FineLine LiniQ. With just five modules, any drawer width can be fitted to best suit the individual user. Additional functional inserts from knife holder to foil dispenser complete the cutlery insert. And whatever the customised arrangement looks like: the two-part base panel ensures the best possible flexibility in terms of width for a wide range of drawer systems. The cutlery insert combined with the base panel ensure a uniform appearance, preventing annoying colour contrasts with the drawer.

New: OrganiQ material makes it sustainable
Until now, the elegant drawer insert has been available in three trendy wood versions: Nordic ash, light oak and black ash. A sustainable version made from OrganiQ material in the colour “grey” is now joining this trio. OrganiQ consists of 78 percent natural fibres and 22 percent duroplastic binding agent, which is manufactured in a patented process and is water-based whilst being formaldehyde and phenol resin-free. This has been tested and verified in a food test carried out by DEKRA. The raw material used grows a lot faster than wood and is extremely good to process. This attractively priced material was awarded the German Sustainability Award Design 2023 – making it the perfect alternative for everyone who wants to combine style with sustainability.

OrganiQ is a sustainable alternative to wood
With its OrganiQ material, Kesseböhmer has created a meaningful alternative to solid wood. While solid wood does store greenhouse gases and is biodegradable, not enough wood is growing back in the world to meet the rising demand. To protect biodiversity and the climate effectively, around two billion cubic metres of wood including the bark can be harvested globally. In 2020, the amount of felled timber was around 4.3 to 5 billion cubic metres - meaning that over two billion cubic metres too much are being taken from forests every year. With alternatives to wood such as OrganiQ, which consists of equal parts of rapidly growing natural hemp and kenaf fibres, the global timber resources are not put under any additional strain “For us, innovation means developing smart solutions for our customers. Making sure this is not detrimental to the very foundation of our existence has been a concern at Kesseböhmer for years,” says Burkhard Schreiber, Managing Director of Kesseböhmer GmbH. Our sustainability activities range from production and packaging to the products themselves. OrganiQ is a material that we have developed, which is an outstanding solution to a specific challenge, the shortage of solid wood.”
